“Hope for The
Community”
Nov. 8th, 2008
10 am-6 pm
Calling all servants. Here
is the chance of a lifetime to be a part of the
biggest
thing we’ve ever done before. All the
walls are down and this community is coming together.
That’s right we are joining forces to
bring hope
to the community.
It is local ministries, local churches, local businesses, local
agencies, social services, community partners, musicians, and
any other group you can think of coming together with one focus
and one purpose.
To send a message that we care
about this community.
We want people to see we are willing to make an investment of
time and money that will make a difference in peoples’ lives,
today and tomorrow.
This is a great way to be a blessing to others and to honor God.

CHRIST'S PANTRY
at
Crossroads
Christ’s pantry is
our door to door food ministry,
originally organized as the result of finding out that the community
surrounding this church consists of 48% single parents of which 24% have
an income below the national poverty level. In light of this
information, food is packaged in boxes and taken door to door, out into
the community, each and every week. It is a no pressure ministry that
simply does its best to show the love of God and our love toward our
neighbor.
In return, we expect nothing.
As a result of this
ministry, Crossroads now partners with several other local churches,
some of other religions, and other non-profit groups, all with the
intent to help change lives through the building of new relationships.

Each and every week many people come to us asking for help… help
with food, help with car insurance, help with rent, help with
water bills. Now granted, sometimes these are the folks we've
all met and tired to help in the past, folks who have literally
taken advantage of the church and any other ministry or business
they could. But what we have learned is that these aren't the
only people out there and that needing help isn't just about the
food or an occasional water bill payment. It's about heart. The
real help that we can offer anyone begins with our willingness
to build new relationships. The effort and love involved in
becoming a friend is much different than that of a care giver.
And to be honest, most accept it, but it's not what they really
want. They take it because they need it, but what they really
want is change.
Over the past 18 months at Crossroads, we have been amazingly
blessed with the opportunity to do just that… to make new
friends and to help change lives. From helping people find jobs
to working with local business and ministries in housing, God
has blessed more than 100 families off the street and back into
society. Call it a second chance or whatever you choose to call
it. We call it living out our faith and trusting in God. Loving
what God loves most, people! |
